Dr. Anthony Macari is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics at the Department of Dentofacial Medicine- American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon.
Dr. Macari earned his dental degree from Saint Joseph University- Beirut, and a Graduate Diploma in Oral Biology from the Lebanese University. He completed a postgraduate residency in Orthodontics at AUB. He holds an MS degree in Human Morphology from AUB’s Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Macari is a diplomate of the European Board of Orthodontics. He is a founding member of the Lebanon Association for Dentofacial Research (LADR), and an awarded member in the Eastern component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontics. Dr. Macari is a recipient of many awards including the 2011 Aesthetic Dentistry MENA Award, the 2020 Wayne G. Watson Award for Biologic or Experimental Research from the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and the 2022 Brainerd F. Swain Award of Excellence from the Angle East society of Orthodontics.
Dr. Macari’s main research focuses are the interface between craniofacial morphology and Head and Neck function (early effect of nasal obstruction on facial morphology, and the optimal timing for removal of adenoids and tonsils, and relationship between craniofacial morphology and voice parameters) and etiology of malocclusion and facial esthetics ranging from determination of genetic components of mandibular prognathism to facial esthetics in different facial types. His scholarly contributions include more than thirty peer reviewed journal publications. Dr. Macari is a reviewer for major orthodontic and dental journals.
